Product Info
Michel Roux is the grandson of a charcutier in a small, provincial town in France. At 14 he was apprenticed to a grand patisserie in northern Paris. He was part of the British Embassy in Paris and, for years, private chef to Mlle. Cécile de Rothschild. He moved to England in 1967 he started Le Gavroche, showcasing the best of French cooking. It was an immediate success; and he was only 26. When this autobiography was written, in 2000, he owned the only 3-star Michelin restaurant in Great Britain, The Waterside Inn at Bray. Instead of a year-by-year chronicle, Roux has arranged this book as though it were courses in a meal, beginning with Champagne and canapés and through to After-dinner speech. This volume is a 2000 first edition in very good condition, with dust jacket.
