Del Conte has won numerous awards for her books, including for this “encyclopedia” of over 400 pages. This is the UK 2001 edition. Nigella Lawson says del Conte “changed her life,” while Food52 says she “changed home cooking forever.” In addition to 200 recipes, this book includes her A to Z of ingredients, formerly published as a stand-alone book. Further, it includes an essay on Italy as the Land of Vines and a wine index. My favorite is her take on La Ribollita, the Tuscan Bean soup, as taught to her by a neighbor in Chianti. According to the Internet, she will turn 100 this year.
