 Full disclosure: I love Pat Conroy and hate that we will never have another book by him. But I can – and do – cook his recipes, especially Pickled Shrimp aka Funeral Shrimp. Even if you don’t want to cook from this book – and I’m betting you will! – it’s worth buying for the stories that serves as intermezzos between recipes. “The Pleasures of Reading Cookbooks No One Has Ever Heard of” is my favorite, in part because he says his cookbook collection started with community cookbooks and so did ours. And the sections from his time in Rome (Italy) are special – and the recipes authentic and tasty.  This is a 2004 paperback copy in good condition.
