The book was originally advertised as “A collection of more than three hundred recipes for everything from breads to desserts presents a practical approach to cooking techniques, appliances, and ingredients designed to save the cook time and effort.” The cover notes say, “offers not only an exhaustive supply of fabulous recipes, but also the know-how to make the recipes simply, effortlessly and quickly” – a good goal then and now. And her tips sprinkled through the text are timeless: I got the idea of freshening a leftover soup with fresh herbs or wine from her!

Most of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is from Lake Garda in Italy. Olive aren't typically grown so far north. However, the soft breezes coming from the south, across Lake Garda, get trapped by the leading edges of the Dolomite mountains and create a micro-climate. One that is ideal for growing olives!
