Although this book was printed in 1973, it is not as dated as you might think. The first 69 pages are a quite good summary of wine history in the USA, as well as practical information about buying, storing and serving wine. The author’s stated purpose is to “provide a solid framework for thinking about which wines to use when, what to drink wine with, and how to cook with wine. Everything else you need to know is in the glass.” The recipes are approachable and ingredients easy to find. Several are French or Basque classics. I’m quite tempted by the Onion-Wine Sauce to serve with steak. 1973 first edition hardback in good condition.

ABOUT OUR SHOP

Most of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is from Lake Garda in Italy. Olive aren't typically grown so far north. However, the soft breezes coming from the south, across Lake Garda, get trapped by the leading edges of the Dolomite mountains and create a micro-climate. One that is ideal for growing olives!
